Your data
This site keeps almost nothing about you. The only personal data it collects is the email address you give the newsletter. Visits are counted anonymously.
The newsletter
When you sign up, your email address goes to EmailOctopus, the service that stores the list and sends the newsletter. It is the same newsletter as on secondsailinggame.com: a monthly update on how the game is going.
- Your address is used only to send you this newsletter. It is never sold or shared.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click takes you off the list.
- To have your address removed completely, reply to any newsletter email and ask.
Sign-up form
The sign-up form is EmailOctopus's form script. It loads when the form scrolls into view. It uses Google reCAPTCHA to check that sign-ups come from people, so Google receives technical data such as your IP address, and reCAPTCHA may set cookies. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Dev log comments
Comments under dev log posts use giscus, which stores them as GitHub Discussions. Reading them needs no account. To comment, you sign in with GitHub, and your comment is public on GitHub (giscus privacy policy).
Everything else
To see how many people visit and which pages they read, the site uses Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you across other sites. It counts page views, time on the site, the site you came from, and your country, browser and device type. Your IP address is not stored (Umami's privacy policy).
There are no ads and no tracking cookies. Fonts come from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses to keep the service secure (GitHub's privacy statement).
